LCB Issues Advisory Notice Regarding Consuming Beer on Brewery Premises

We have been fielding a lot of questions this week from breweries regarding the change in regulations allowing pints to be served on the brewery premises.  Many of the questions were related to breweries determining whether it is still beneficial to keep their brew pub licenses.  There are certainly pros and cons, and the LCB has issued an Advisory Notice that may help shed some light on those.

One of the main benefits of a brewpub license is that you could also receive an amusement permit.  The amusement permit allows for live performances to occur, such as bands, DJs, acoustic performances, spoken word poetry, etc.  It was not immediately clear whether a brewery could now also obtain that permit, but based upon this Advisory Notice, it appears the LCB will allow it.

Overall, this new regulation really opens up a lot of possibilities for breweries at all stages.  We are excited to hear how some are already planning on taking advantage of these changes.
